Today is the third day on the protocol and again no signs during the first half hour after administering the mediation, however around 11 am she once again became sleepy but not to any extreme. She would rouse for sounds and there is no slowed movements. She is now sitting on the playtop of the cage grinding her beak and relaxing. I'm also noticing a small decrease in appetite and her morning weight was down by 4 grams, to 320 grams. I will continue to closely monitor this.
The biggest and most important fact to notice though is she has not chewed the few in tact feathers on her chest since this has started!  Had I not started this protocol those feathered would have been chewed by now and look like the rest of the feathers on her chest. These feathers are a huge step and something for me to mark her progress. I will also note any new feathers as they come in.

It has been a while since my last post and even longer since this all started and I only have positivity to share. Puff is getting .02 ml of meds every morning, and only in the morning. So she gets one dose only, every morning with her breakfast, no evening dose and she is doing so amazing. The reason I chose to try cutting out the evening dose was because she was falling from her sleeping perch during the night, and most nights. Because I'm a very light sleeper I would hear her flap and get up to find her on the bottom of her cage looking stunned and a bit dazed. After moving her into my room to sleep so I could better observe, the conclusion I came to was the med was puting her into a very deep sleep and she lost balance control and/or fell as she was relaxing so much into a deep sleep. After stopping the evening dose I was no longer having this issue and she continued to leave all of her feathers in tact. One other thing I decided to do is every other Sunday she gets a med fre...
Second dose at 8:30 a.m. and again no symptoms or side affects. We are starting out with a .03 ml solution and will increase by .01 ml every two days until I get to the right dose for her. There are risks with any medical remedy. After getting treatment we had some morning cuddles and then she ate breakfast which today was veggie chop cooked into scrambled eggs.
Because the amount of liquid was getting so high I switched back to the 1/1 ratio of water/medication. So now I'm giving her 03 ml of the new mixture as of last night. She is still eating so well and showing her wonderful personality. At last check she was still messing with her feathers so it is a slow process but I will keep pushing forward.
